Kendejah is the name of a village in Grand Capemount County. It is a combination of two words from the Vai language of Liberia, kende and jah. Kende was the name of chief who founded the town and jah in Vai means town. In essence coming to Kendejah means coming to "Kende's town." As every Liberian and probably all West Africans know, the Vai tribe is the premier sub-group of Liberian's when it comes to providing hospitality for their guests. Kendejah is also the name of the historical Liberian cultural institution located in Montserrado County. This national landmark hosted all the cultural performers of the Liberian National Cultural Troupe and was the location of numerous cultural performances witnessed by important guests to the Republic of Liberia including presidents, kings, queens, monarchs, and visiting VIPs.
